Laser Therapy FAQs
What does laser therapy have over other forms of therapy?
It does not require the use of drugs or surgery, there are less side effects or risks, and it is quick and convenient. Studies have shown that it is equal to or more effective than other forms of physical therapy. Pain relief is often immediate.
How does the laser work?
Class IV Laser therapy is a photo chemical process. There have been more than 2500 research reports published and more than 100 double-blind positive studies confirm the clinical effect of cold laser therapy. The laser photons increase the cells ability to take in oxygen and nutrients and pass out wastes and toxins. It further increases the permeability of the cell which allows for a sharp decrease in swelling, pain and inflammation. These high powered photons react with the chromophores in the mitochondria of the cells to produce Adenosine TriPhosphate (ATP), the chemical energy required for healing and rejuvenation. In simple English it accelerates healing and restoration of function by turning light energy into healing energy!
Does it hurt? What does the treatment feel like?
There is little or no sensation during treatment. Occasionally one feels mild, soothing warmth. Laser treatment is relaxing and some people even fall asleep. On the other hand, in some cases pain can increase or begin 6-24 hours after a treatment session. This is because the laser light starts the healing process. All healing begins with inflammation. This type of pain is particularly likely to arise when the health problems are chronic in nature and the nerves are highly sensitized. It usually subsides after a few days but can, in rare cases, last longer.
How long does the treatment take?
The typical course of treatment is 10-minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated. Acute conditions may be treated daily, particularly if they are accompanied by significant pain. More chronic problems respond better when treatments are received 2 to 3 times a week. Treatment plans are determined on an individual basis.
How many treatments does it take?
This depends on the nature of the condition being treated. For some acute conditions, 2 to 6 treatments may be sufficient. More chronic conditions may require 10-15 sessions. Conditions such as severe arthritis may require ongoing periodic care to control pain. Our Guarantee is 'Better in four or schedule no more!' Now that says it all.
How long before results are felt?
You may feel improvement in your condition after the very first treatment. Each treatment is cumulative and results are often felt after 2 to 4 sessions. Treatments just take a few minutes, however the therapeutic effect continues to sooth and heal long after you leave our office. We are so confident in our laser that we offer the Four Visit Guarantee. "Pain relief in four, or schedule no more!"
Are the results long lasting?
Therapeutic Laser Therapy is about healing. It's not about masking or covering up a condition. When you feel better from this therapy... it's because you are better. Therefore results have been found to be quite long lasting.
Can it be used in conjunction with other forms of treatment?
Yes, laser therapy is even more effective when combined with other forms of therapy, including physical therapy, chiropractic, massage and soft tissue mobilization and following surgery. We combine our Class IV laser therapy with specialized exercise and deep tissue massage techniques to relieve your pain fast!
Is it a low level cold laser treatment?
NO! Our laser is a Class-4 Deep Tissue Laser with much deeper penetrating power. No class -2 or Class-3 laser on the market today can come close to the fast-acting therapeutic effects of our Class-4 device. Chronic pain relief and hard-to-fix cases are our specialty. We have had patients who have tried cold laser therapy with no success and with just ONE Class IV laser treatment they start feeling better right away. All lasers are not the same!
What conditions can be treated with Class IV Laser therapy?
We have had tremendous success with a variety of conditions, including but not limited to; arthritis, neck pain, low back pain, hip pain, hand and foot pain, shoulder pain, tendonitis, plantar fasciitis, tennis elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, skin conditions, migraine and inflammatory conditions.
Is it covered by medical insurance?
Some insurance covers the procedure, but not many. Most patients who decide to receive the benefits of laser therapy are sick and tired of being sick and tired, so they choose to seek this effective method of treatment on their own. Price is usually not a consideration when you have been suffering for so long.
